Adrenal gland
- Adrenal glands are retroperitoneal and situated
anterosuperior to upper
pole of Kidneys.
- They measure approx 5 x 3 cm.
- The right adrenal gland lies superior and medial to the kidney.
- Right adrenal gland is pyramidal in shape
- Left adrenal gland is semilunar in shape and
is situated higher than right.
- The
right adrenal gland is said to be horseshoe-shaped.
- The gland derives its blood supply form the superior,
middle, and inferior suprarenal arteries.
- The left adrenal is located higher than the right adrenal
gland.
