Adrenal gland

• Adrenal glands are retroperitoneal and situated anterosuperior to upper pole of Kidneys.
• They measure approx 5 x 3 cm.
• The right adrenal gland lies superior and medial to the kidney. 
• Right adrenal gland is pyramidal in shape
• Left adrenal gland is semilunar in shape and is situated higher than right.
• The right adrenal gland is said to be horseshoe-shaped.  
• The gland derives its blood supply form the superior, middle, and inferior suprarenal arteries.
• The left adrenal is located higher than the right adrenal gland.
