Renal veins

• Left Renal vein crosses in front of Aorta to enter IVC at right angle
• Left renal vein is 7.5 cm, three times longer than right
  • Passes behind the Splenic vein and the body of Pancreas
  • Passes in between Aorta and SMA
  • Receives
    • Left Gonadal vein
    • Left Adrenal vein
• Right Renal vein is shorter 2.5 cm and enters IVC at a lower level than the left renal vein
  • Behind the second part of Duodenum
• Renal arteries accompany Renal veins
• Lie anterior to Renal arteries
