Clerkship RotationsThere are three sites for the clerkship: Loyola University Medical Center, Alexian Brothers Medical Center and Resurrection Hospital . You will have received your assignment based on the lottery results prior to the orientation on your first day. For students assigned to an outside hospital, you should report to clerkship site director at the assigned time on the day after your orientation. Please contact the coordinator, Jory Eaton, or the clerkship director, Dr. Graziano, if there are any problems. All of the students have the same clinical responsibilities and receive the same basic training in obstetrics and gynecology. You will be exposed to similar patient with routine gynecologic and obstetric complaints. Students are expected to keep an ongoing case list of patients under their care. This case list should be entered online at the end of every week. This will be reviewed at the midpoint of the clerkship for completeness. Students are also required to have a competency card completed and returned by the end of the clerkship. You are expected to attend the educational conferences at Loyola each Wednesday. In addition, you are expected to attend any scheduled Grand Rounds, teaching conferences or departmental lectures at the individual clerkship sites. Attendance is mandatory and takes precedence over any clinical responsibilities. Any complaints, conflicts or problems should be directed to the clerkship coordinator or the clerkship director. Loyola and Resurrection students will have outpatient continuity clinics assigned at Loyola. This is an ambulatory clinic staffed by faculty and residents were students actively participate in patient care. Students at Alexian Brothers will attend outpatient clinics with attending physicians at that site. Resurrection students will be divided among three different services: Labor and Delivery, Gynecology and Float Student. Assignment will occur on the first day at the hospital. The initial assignment will determine your call schedule and continuity clinic assignment. Each student will follow the resident from their initial service. The Float Student will return to Loyola and have clinic with the Obstetrics senior resident, on Thursday afternoon.
