Dissection of the Deltoid and Scapula
In preparation for dissection of the shoulder posteriorly, you may want to review the muscles (video) from the dissection of the back.

  1. This dissection demonstrates the triangular and quadrilateral spaces. The deltoid is partially reflected exposing the axillary nerve and posterior humeral circumflex artery which supply the muscle and pass through the quadrilateral space. Other muscles seen are the long head of the triceps, teres major m., and teres minor m.. Part of the circumflex scapular artery is seen passing through the triangular space.

  2. This video demonstrates the circumflex scapular artery passing through the triangular space and the axillary nerve and posterior humeral circumflex artery passing through the quadrangular space.
