What

room?

you have animals housed in two or more rooms contact
the CMF supervisor at ext. 6-5162 to determine traffic

How
can I relocate animals from one room to another?
Animals
should never be moved from one room to another.
Animals
cannot be removed, taken to an outside lab, then returned
to barrier areas.

How
should I transport animals on campus?
Public
hallways and clinical areas must be avoided.
Animals
must be in secure containers/cages.

vehicles must be covered.

How
do I transfer my animals to another protocol or another
investigator?
The investigator must complete an animal transfer
form available in the CMF office, Bldg. 101/0745, and
on the website.
Allow 24 hours for approval of animal transfers. Approval
must be obtained before using the animals.
CMF procurement staff will notify the Investigator when
the transfer has been approved.
CMF supervisor will change the appropriate information
on the cage cards and the individual animal records
if applicable.

What
is the sentinel or animal health surveillance program?
Routine
serology performed in every rodent room to identify
adventitial animal pathogens.
Routine
fecal and skin examination performed on every species
to screen for parasites.
