IACUC Training Requirements

The Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine has purchased an account to the AALAS Learning Library. Please see the following for access and courses information.

We encourage our researches and staffs to use the website; http://www.aalaslearninglibrary.org/, as part of the required personnel training in ACORP submission and laboratory animal research, including the VA required on-line training (replacing the LATA website - http://hazel.forest.net/latanet/client/loyola/introduction.htm and the now closed VA - http://www.researchtraining.org website).

Instructions for Personnel to Access the AALAS Learning Library:

** AUTOMATIC (Personnel self-enroll via an access code; course/exam access is immediate.)
1. Please go to http://www.aalaslearninglibrary.org
2. On the home page, click Enroll Now.
3. Select Join a Group.
4. Enter the access code “loyolastritch070107”.
5. Choose a username and password; please keep a record of this login for later use.
6. Enter the contact information requested. Please make sure that your e-mail address (username@lumc.edu) is correct.
7. When enrollment is complete, select Animal Care and Use Libraries (under the Libraries link).
8. Select the track (topic) which best matches your course topic.
Example: The course "Working with the IACUC" is found in the "Regulatory and IACUC Compliance" track.
9. Please note: If in the future you need to be provided with your username and password, please use the "forgot username or password?" link, which is adjacent to the login area. This utility emails you your username and password.

All individuals listed on the protocol, including the PI and Co-PI (it is only necessary to complete one of the options listed for each topic.)

  • "The Humane CAre and Use of Laboratory Animals"
• Occuptional Health and Safety Track
  

The Hines/NC VA IACUC "Working with the IACUC (VA version)" course rquires annual re-certification.

Training for individuals listed on a protocol with direct contact with the animals (it is only necessary to complete one o the options listed for each topic):

Training for individuals listed in the surgery protocol that are providing anesthesia and or analgesia, perfoming the surgical procedures and post-surgical care need to complet the training.

Euthanasia experience needs to be listed in the ACORP.
