M.D./Ph.D. Program
Application Procedure

General information about the program and application procedures may be obtained from the Administrative Secretary, Elizabeth Stekala, by calling the M.D./Ph.D. Program office (708/216-9693) or you can e-mail your request including the following information: Name; Address; Telephone Number; Year of Undergraduate Graduation; Year You Expect to Enter Medical School; Basic Science Graduate Program of Interest; and Date of Birth (used to cross reference with medical school applications). Application to the program by medical students already accepted into the medical school program must be made by the end of the first semester of the first medical school year. This can be accomplished by filling out an official application form which can be obtained from the M.D./Ph.D. Program office. Students planning to apply after beginning the medical curriculum must have the approval of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, before review by the M.D./Ph.D. Steering Committee and the Loyola University Graduate Program.

Application to the Stritch School of Medicine is through AMCAS. If you have any questions, please call the Admissions Office at (708) 216-3229. The M.D./Ph.D. packet you will recieve will include the Graduate School application materials along with an instruction sheet on how to fill out this application when applying to the M.D./Ph.D. Program. The fee for applying to the Graduate School is waived when applying to the dual degree program.

Upon receipt of your application, the Graduate School Admissions office will forward a copy of your application to the M.D./Ph.D. office and the Graduate Program that you indicated on the application form. The M.D./Ph.D. office cross references your information with the Medical School Admissions office. They will notify the M.D./Ph.D. office upon contacting applicants for interviews. At this time, if possible, interviews will be set up for the applicant to interview with members of the M.D./Ph.D. Steering Committee and the Graduate Program Admissions committee. All 3 sets of interviews are completed in a 2 day period. In the event this can not be coordinated, other arrangements for interviewing will be made.

If acceptance is granted into the Medical School and Graduate School, the M.D./Ph.D. Steering Committee will review the applicant's file again for consideration of acceptance in the program.
