Match Day will bring a flood of emotions to Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine

***MEDIA ALERT***

WHAT:

For 140 fourth-year medical students at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Match Day brings the most anticipated moment of the year. That’s when these soon-to-be doctors will learn where they will do their hospital residencies and take this next step in their careers.

The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon, on Friday, March 20. At 10:35 a.m., Linda Brubaker, MD, dean and chief diversity officer, will address a packed atrium.

The drama builds to a crescendo and climaxes when sealed envelopes containing the students’ next destinations are handed out. At 11 a.m., they will be directed to five tables on which will be placed the envelopes. Inside will be the names of the medical institutions that will become their homes for the next several years. Some students will get their top choices and be elated. Others will not get their top choices, and feel mixed emotions. There will be screams, kisses, hugs, joyful shouts and tears from the students, their families and loved ones.
