Conventions Used in This Tutorial

David A. Hatch, M.D.

This tutorial is intended to serve as an adjunct to your study of embryology, not as a text of embryology. You may find it useful to have an embryology text with you as you tour the tutorial. Try to see as many drawings of developing structures as you can. This will help you to visualize the three dimensional growth of the fetus.

As with most web pages, underlined colored text indicates a hyperlink. Clicking on the link will take you to another page. In this tutorial, I have used bold text (in the same color as standard text) to emphasize words or concepts that are important in genitourinary vocabulary. Bold text does not indicate a hyperlink.

Most pages include hyperlinks at the bottom of the page that will take you back to key pages in the tutorial. Because there are several pathways to each page, I did not provide hyperlinks to return to each pathway. To return to the previous page, use the return [back] button on your browser.

As you take the tutorial, you may find links that don't work, pictures that don't mount, or other errors. I would appreciate your letting me know about such defects so that they can be corrected. I would like to hear your reactions to the tutorial as well. Are there concepts that need further clarification? Are the diagrams unclear? Are more labels needed on the pictures?
