Abnormal Finding
If the Spleen is enlarged describe how many fingers below costal margin,
consistency, surface and tenderness. Spleen can be enlarged due to a variety of
diseases. Following are few of the common diseases.
- Splenomegaly: (Cirrhosis, Hemoglobinopathy, Myelofibrosis, SBE,
Typhoid, Lupus, Sarcoidosis, Lymphoma )
- Tenderness: (Infarct, Hemorrhage, Infection, SBE, Typhoid)
- Consistency: Soft (Typhoid), Firm (cirrhosis, hemoglobinopathy)
