Warm up your hands by rubbing them against each other. Prior to starting, ask the patient whether there are any painful areas in the abdomen. After you have inquired about tender areas, this is the last of the four quadrants which should be palpated. Never palpate the tender area first. Gently palpate all four quadrants starting from the right lower quadrant.
