Pericardial rub

Note pericardial rub in a patient with uremic pericarditis.

Rubbing of roughened visceral and parietal pericardial surfaces produces a scratchy, leathery quality to the sound.

Pericardial rub is heard in the following conditions:

• Viral
• Malignat
• Tuberculous
• Dressler's syndrome
• Uremia
• Lupus
