Open the capsule along in the direction of the capsular ligaments to expose the head of the femur
as shown in this dissection. Then
evulse the head of the femur to view the
internal structure of the joint including the round ligament of the femur. NOTE: The round ligament of the femur will often tear when you evulse
the head (just as it does with hip dislocation).
