Loyola University Medical Education Network Dissection of the Cranial Fossa and Cranial Nerves

Step 1
Study the cranial fossae, identify the dural reflections and open the dural sinuses.
Each of the steps in the dissection includes more specific instructions for the dissection of that step. The buttons below provide lists of all the structures that will be dissected in this session.

Step 2
Find the cut ends of the cranial nerves.
Step 3
Remove the dura from the middle cranial fossa on one side to demonstrate the trigeminal ganglion and its divisions, as well as the middle meningeal artery.
