Objectives -- At the conclusion of this PCM-3 session, students will be able to:

  1. State and apply the key steps in delivering bad news

  2. State and apply key steps in discussing code status (resuscitation preference)

  3. Develop an effective oral analgesic regimen

  4. Define "Advance Directive"

  5. Begin the process of establishing the overall goals of care with a patient with a life-limiting illness

  6. Demonstrate knowledge of the philosophy of hospice and the services provided by a hospice program
