Thoracic vasculature and innervation

Vasculature

Anterior wall

supplied by anterior intercostals which are branches of the internal thoracic and musculophrenic arteries. Also supreme thoracic artery.

Posterior wall

supplied by posterior intercostals which are branches of the aorta and costocervical trunk.

Venous drainage

Venous drainage is into the brachiocephalic and azygos veins.

Innervation

Intercostal muscles are innervated by ventral rami of thoracic nerves. (intercostal nerves).
