Elevates pharynx and larynx . Passavant's muscle closes nasopharyngeal isthmus in swallowing
Insertion
Upper border of thyroid cartilage and blends with constrictor fibres. Upper fibres interdigitate with opposite side (Passavant's ridge)
Nerve
Pharyngeal br of vagus N (X) with its motor fibres from cranial accessory N (XI)
