Is whooping cough communicable?

  • Yes, whooping cough is most communicable during catarrhal phase of the disease when the patient shows a profuse and mucoid rhinorrhea, malaise, fever and sneezing.

  • The disease becomes less communicable when it progresses to paroxysmal and convalescent phases.
