REVIEW OF MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGYMEDICAL MYCOLOGY
Professor Department of Microbiology & Immunology 13. Acquired resistance to coccidioidomycosis is demonstrated by:
(D) A delayedtype hypersensitivity reaction is elicited when a mycelial culture filtrate (coccidioidin) is injected cutaneously. The skin test becomes positive within 2 weeks after the onset of symptoms and before the appearance of precipitins and complementfixing antibodies and often remains positive indefinitely. A positive test in healthy subjects implies immunity to symptomatic reinfection. All other reactions or findings cannot be correlated to acquired resistance to coccidioidomycosis.
