Bladder Cancer
University of Southern California - Multicenter Trial of Adjuvant
Chemotherapy in Organ-Confined Bladder Cancer Based on p53 Status
Patients undergoing cystectomy for bladder cancer are serum tested
for abnormalities in the p53 gene. Patients demonstrating abnormal
p53 genes are randomized to either chemotherapy or observation following
cystectomy. Patients with normal p53 genes are observed. Recurrence
and survival of the three groups is compared.

Prospective Randomized Trial of Shockwave Lithotripsy and Percutaneous
Nephrolithotomy for Lower Pole Nephrolithiasis (Lower Pole Study
2)
This study is designed to evaluate different treatments for stones
located in the lower part of the kidney. There are currently many
ways (or procedures) that are used to treat kidney stones in this
location. One procedure is called shock wave Lithotripsy (SWL),
and the other procedure is called percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL).
This study will attempt to determine the effectiveness, the rate
of complications, and the cost associated with these two forms of
treatment.
Males and females over the age of 18 are eligible for this study.
Females cannot enroll in this study if they are pregnant.
