Clinical/Research Interests: Invasive bladder cancer; use of intestinal segments in urinary tract reconstruction; retroperitoneal tumors; testicular cancer; localized and locally-advanced prostate cancer; role of stress-response proteins in bladder cancer; molecular markers for prognostication of bladder and prostate cancer.
Available to See Patients at: Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center (Building 13 on the LUMC campus map) Bio: Marcus L. Quek, M.D. is an Instructor of Urology at the Loyola University Medical Center. He specializes in all aspects of urologic oncology, with a particular emphasis on the surgical management of invasive bladder cancer and urinary tract reconstruction. Dr. Quek completed his undergraduate work at Stanford University with honors degrees in Biological Sciences and Psychology. He went on to the University of Southern California (USC) where he earned his medical degree, as well as induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He stayed on at USC for his residency in Urology, as well as a two year urologic oncology fellowship under the direction of Dr. Donald G. Skinner. During this time, he served as attending staff for all major oncologic and reconstructive cases at the Los Angeles + USC Medical Center and the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Quek is currently a candidate member of the American Urological Association and the Society of Urologic Oncology. He has published several original research articles in many highly-regarded peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of Urology, Urology, Cancer, and Seminars in Urologic Oncology.
