Objectives
for Medical Student Outpatient Urology Rotation
Medical History
Each student will take a complete urological history including:
Urological Exam
Each student will perform a detailed physical exam including:

Examination of the abdomen
-
Examination of the penis
-
Examination of the scrotum
-
Examination of the testes
-
Examination of the prostate
- Examination of the female genitalia
Urologic Imaging Evaluation
Each student will review, under faculty supervision, urologic imaging
studies including:

Intravenous pyelogram
-
Voiding cystourethrogram
-
Lasix renogram
- Renal Ultrasound
Urological Clinical Laboratory Evaluation
Each student will review, under faculty supervision, urologic clinical
laboratory evaluation such as:
Each student will be expected to combine the results of each of
the above evaluations from a patient and create a differential diagnosis
of the urologic disorder. From this list the student will suggest
a diagnostic and therapeutic plan.
Range of Urologic Conditions
Each of the students should be exposed to patients with the following
urologic problems:

Bladder outlet obstruction
-
Urinary incontinence
-
Urinary tract infection
-
Urolithiasis
-
Urologic malignancy (renal, prostate, bladder, testis, etc.)
-
Infertility
-
Impotence
- Congenital urologic anomalies (hypospadias, cryptorchidism,
hydrocele, etc.)
