Description:

This elective is for fourth year students wishing to participate as student instructors in the gross anatomy laboratories during the SHB course in Semester I of the academic year. Students must make a serious commitment to be present each day of the session for which they enrolled. Oversight of the teaching responsibility will be provided by the SHB faculty and the Course Director, who will determine participant's professionalism, attendance, teaching effectiveness, knowledge, and participation in required prosections.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Participate in laboratory teaching of M1 students on each schedued lab day for the duartion of the elective.
2. Perform cadaver prosections as may be required by the Course Director.
3. Conduct scheduled review sessions as assigned by the Course Director.

Method of Evaluation: Students will be evaluated by the faculty of SHB and the Course Director. Students in this elective will be monitored at the dissection table and observations will be made of their comunnicaton style, knowledge of gross anatomy, skill in assisting with dissection, and level of professional behavior. Evaluation will include a determination of their presence in the lab during scheduled hours as a part of the professionalism assessment and course requirement. The evaluation will include the adequacy of participation in review sessions.
