On the first day of the rotation, report to Allene at 8:30AM in Bldg. 200, Rm. 1447.

Description:

The student is assigned to the cardiology graphics section under the supervision of the course supervisor and staff. The assignment includes daily ECG interpretations and gaining an understanding of the uses and physiology of exercise testing. The opportunity to observe echocardiography, Holter electrocardiography, EPS studies and cardiac catherterizations is available. Students may also attend regularly scheduled cardiology conferences at Hines and Loyola.

*ABSENCES

IN ORDER TO COINCIDE WITH THE CARDIOGRAPHICS ROTATION AT LUMC, THERE SHOULD BE NO ABSENCES DURING THE 4 OR 5 WEEK CARDIOGRAPHICS ROTATION, EXCEPT FOR EMERGENCIES.

NOTE:  THE EXCUSED ABSENCES ARE GRANTED FOR INTERVIEWS ONLY, DURING NOVEMBER, DECEMBER AND JANUARY.   IF OTHER ABSENCES ARE TAKEN, THE DAYS OFF WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THE CREDIT GIVEN FOR THE ELECTIVE.
 
During November, December and January, all requests for absences MUST be signed by the course supervisor. Forms may be obtained from the Hines Cardiology office. Copies of the signed and completed form MUST be returned to the Hines Cardiology office at least one week prior to absence.

An incomplete for the course will be given if the student is absent for more than 3 days. Unexcused absences will be noted on the student final evaluation.

Method of Evaluation: Written evaluation of how well the student has achieved the objectives of the elective.
