About the Department

The Department of Radiology at Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) is a fully-integrated academic and clinical department. The department has a tradition of excellence in clinical care, teaching and research. Its faculty members are noted locally, nationally and internationally for their clinical competence, innovative diagnostic/therapeutic methods, and academic excellence. Graduates of Loyola's ACGME accredited Radiology Residency are leaders in academic and clinical practice throughout the USA.

The latest in diagnostic imaging technology is available to our patients throughout the hospital department and outlying practice sites. These encompass the entire diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum ranging from the simplest plain radiographs to the most complicated CT scan, MRI scan or interventional procedure. An active research program is in place and includes study in the areas of helical CT, breast imaging/intervention, ultrasound imaging, vascular intervention, and neurovascular intervention. State-of-the-art stroke intervention/management and liver tumor treatment programs have recently been initiated.
