  Eligibility

Eligible criteria for all PGY-I candidates:

  • must be a graduate of
    • United States and Canadian medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee Medical Education; or
    • United States of Osteopathic Medicine accredited by the American Osteopathic Association; or
    • foreign medical schools who have a valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
  • eligible for an Illinois Temporary Physician’s license
  • demonstrate understanding and facility in using the English language
  • must have passed USMLE Part I
  • Citizenship/visa status-U.S. citizen or J-1 visa (must be eligible for a J-1 visa to interview)
  • Ordinarily must have graduated from an accredited medical school within the past 5 years of the potential starting date of residency.

All applicants must be registered with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
