• Race and Genomics in Cardiovascular Research
  Discussions of racial/ethnic health disparities inevitably involve a discussion of the role of genetics. This material summarizes controversial evidence related to phenotype distributions, genetics susceptibility and population genetics.
• Eliminate CVD in the 21st Century
  The potential now exists to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease to very low levels- probably 5% of current mortality rates. Background material on epidemiology and prevention of CVD is presented in this set of slides.
• Genomics and Public Health
  With the attempt to use genomics for common disease, the need exists to incorporate a public health perspective.
• Obesity Trends
  A sharp upturn in obesity occurred around 1985, and involved all racial/ethnic, gender and educational groups to a similar degree. These slides summarize the trends in the CDC Behavioral Risk Factor Survey.
• Background and Historical CVD
  A set of classic slides were created as PDF files and converted to PowerPoint.
• International Hypertension
  Based on a recent presentation by a faculty member, we have brought together a series of slides on hypertension prevalence and treatment status in the US, Canada and Europe.
