Each year, a PL4 (or Med-Peds PL5) resident is selected on the basis of outstanding ability in patient care, teaching, and leadership. The chief resident plans resident schedules, runs morning report, participates in the teaching activities of the department and assists the program director in orienting the new residents and other necessary tasks. The chief resident also acts as a liaison between the faculty and residents. In addition, the chief resident is encouraged to pursue clinical activities in his/her area of interest as well as participate in teaching activities of the medical school.

This year, we have one chief resident, Tim Marsho, D.O. who completed his pediatric training last year. Tim leads outstanding morning reports. In addition, he serves as a member of the department's Education Committee and as the voice of the residents with respect to various issues and policies. He is a facilitator of a medical student "Patient Centered Medicine" course. Tim hopes to pursue General Pediatrics.
