Joseph M. Scianna, M.D. has been appointed Assistant Professor of the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery effective July 2006. In addition Dr. Scianna is Co-director of Sinus and Sleep Disorders. Dr. Scianna was born in the western suburbs of Chicago, and attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois for his undergraduate education having received a double major in Spanish and Pre-Medical Science.

Dr. Scianna returned to the Chicago metropolitan area where he completed his medical school training at the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He then continued his training in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. With a special interest in sinus surgery, Dr. Scianna continued his training with a specialized fellowship under the guidance of Dr. J. Stankiewicz.

His clinical and research activities include diagnosis and treatment of nasal and sinus disorders, anterior skull base surgery, otolaryngologic allergy and the surgical management of sleep disorders.

Dr. Scianna sees patients throughout the Chicago area at the Loyola Ambulatory Surgery Center at Oakbrook, the Loyola Outpatient Center in Maywood, as well as the Loyola Center for Health at Hickory Hills.
