Gregory J. Matz, MD
Professor

Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in 1967, Dr. Matz is professor and past chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. He is also former chairman at University of Chicago.

Dr. Matz has had extensive research experience in the areas of deafness, head and neck cancer, sensory diseases, and ototoxicity.

Dr. Matz received his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 1962. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1979, a member of numerous societies and task forces, including the Southwest Oncology Group, and has served on scientific review committees and national committees. He is a past president of the Chicago Laryngologic and Otologic Society. He is a past secretary, treasurer, and president of the American Otologic Society.

An avid volunteer, Dr. Matz has made medical missions to Guatemala, St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic. He also volunteers at the Community Health Center in Chicago.

Dr. Matz has written or co-authored more than 110 articles and abstracts in medical journals and textbooks.
