Wednesday of every other month. The programs are integrated into our
weekly Grand Rounds Schedule which
takes place from 4:00-6:00 every Wednesday. All members of the eye
community are welcome.
The Chicago Subspecialty Guest

attempt to interact more formally with members of other
Ophthalmology Departments throughout the city. The format includes a
reception followed by two presentations and a question and answer
period.
There are also three endowed Speakerships per year. These include
the Arthur Light MD, Memorial
Lectureship and two John J.
Skowron, MD, Distinguished Visiting Professorships. These are
generally CME sponsored programs which take place from 1:00 to 6:00
and involve several presentations as a well as resident
presentations of interesting cases followed by discussion.
For the last 4 years, the Department of Ophthalmology has hosted a
VISX Certification Course for the use of the VISX Laser for Laser
Vision Correction. Senior ophthalmology residents from the 6
Residency Training Programs from Chicago as well as several out of
state resident training programs attend the course. The Course was
jointly sponsored by AMO/VISX and the Department of Ophthalmology.
Wayne Bizer, DO was the invited guest speaker.
Finally, there is an annual James E. McDonald, MD, Keynote Lecture
which highlights the Resident
Alumni Day which takes place every June.
