Ophthalmology Club
Mission
The Ophthalmology Club is designed to provide medical students at Stritch with opportunities to explore the field of Ophthalmology. The club's activities are intended to introduce students to the field, facilitate interaction with the doctors in Loyola's Department of Ophthalmology, and to provide hands-on educational experiences at the hospital and in the community. The group's mission parallels the hospital's mission of 'Serving the Human Spirit' by coordinating volunteer opportunities for the students to serve in the Chicago community, specifically at local health fair screenings.

Events
This year we are continuing the efforts of "Chicago Students for Sight', a project that began at Loyola last year under the guidance of former ophthalmology club president Christine Garcia, group advisor Dr. Amy Lin and Dr. Mildred Olivier of the Midwest Glaucoma Center. The initiative will continue to provide eye screenings at local health fairs in various Chicago neighborhoods. This is collaboration between all Chicago-area medical schools and optometry schools, in partnership with the congressional Glaucoma Caucus.
