William Bonk
has accepted the position of photographer with our department September 28, 2009. Bill brings ophthalmic expertise to this position on many levels as most of you are aware. Bill is a Certified Ophthalmic Technician with several years experience - and probably has seen enough "eyes" to write his own ophthalmic text book. Congratulations!
Farewell to Sarah Fagan Crowe
The department of Ophthalmology wishes Sarah much happiness in her new home in Florida. She will be missed!

Charles Bouchard, MD
Congratulations! The American Academy of Ophthalmology Board of Trustees recently approved your nominations to the following Academy committee(s):
BCSC Sec. 8: External Disease and Cornea - Member Subcommittee
Committee members and committee chairs are appointed by the Board of Trustees, for one-year terms (January 1st - December 31st) and may serve a maximum of five one-year terms. Annually the Board of Trustees reviews all committee member reappointments and nominations.

Welcome Back Darlene! Charles S. Bouchard, MD, Carol Braxton, MS, Director of Administration and Practice Manager, along with the physicians, residents and staff from the department of Ophthalmology were happy to see Darlene back at her desk as Program Coordinator – Extraordinaire. Allison Landes, MD, was the creative force behind the amazing decorations and delicious cake.

Cathleen Cronin, MD, was the St. Martin de Porres Award Recipient at Fenwick High School, Oak Park, Illinois on Sunday March 22, 2009. Congratulations Dr. Cronin!
James McDonnell, MD
Effective July 1, 2009, James McDonnell, MD will be promoted to Professor, in the department of Ophthalmology, Loyola University Medical Center.
Rabb Retina Study Club
The Loyola Department of Ophthalmology hosted the Rabb Retina Study Club, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Loyola University, Chicago Water Tower Campus, 820 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
Vitreo-Retinal Specialists, fellows, residents and ophthalmic photographers shared their more challenging cases with their peers and had open discussions of the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of vitreo-retinal disease.
A buffet was served with presentations from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
DuPage Rotary helps in Guatemala
Local medical professionals from Wheaton's Spectrios Institute for Low Vision, assisted by volunteers from the Central DuPage Rotary, treated 535 patients in the mountain village of Chichicastenango, Guatemala during one week in early February 2009. For full story in the Daily Herald [click here]. |
