Cornea and External Disease

The Cornea and Anterior Segment Service offers consultation in the medical and surgical management of a wide variety of diseases of the cornea, conjunctiva, and anterior segment.

Special Areas of Expertise Include:

• High-risk corneal transplantation
• Surgical management of severe ocular surface disease including
  • Stem cell transplantation
  • Amniotic membrane transplantation
• Severe dry eye, blepharitis
• Corneal infection
• Keratoconus
• Therapeutic contact lens fitting (through the Contact Lens Service)
• Excimer Laser Refractive Surgery
• Pterygium

Diagnostic Services Include:

• Corneal topography and corneal thickness (Orbscan)
• Pachymetry
• Immunohistopathlogicial diagnosis of ocular surface disease (cicatricial pemphigoid, corneal intraepithelial neoplasia)
• Anterior segment digital photography
• Specular Microscopy
• Corneal Tomography
