Patient Testimonials
Words of Inspiration to our Faculty in 2008-09
Charles S. Bouchard, MD
June 1st and June 29th, I had cataract surgery. I’m writing to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent care I received from the entire staff in ophthalmology and at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Thank everyone for being so patient with me and for answering my questions. All of you made the experience as pleasant as is humanly possible. I am more than satisfied with the outcome and the quality of my life has much improved. Once again I thank all of you for doing what you do.
Sincerely,
Joseph Eagle

Just a note to say - THANK-YOU - not only for the job you did on my eyes, but for being the person you are, the care in your hands and the feelings in your heart when you use those hands on a patient. This is one patient that really does love you for you and your caring. Love, Laura

I just want to thank you so much for taking care of my eye so I can see again. When I have my left eye done, I hope it will turn out just like my right one. Thank you so much.

David Yoo, MD, has received a MAGIS Star Award Nomination!
"It is sort of impossible to describe exactly what this man/doctor/angel and his team have accomplished! The dramatic difference from our 14 year old daughter’s surgery is life-changing. Amanda (Mandie) had one of the largest and most rare tumors Dr. Zender said he had ever seen. Her condition is one in three million. He proposed a five to six hour surgery that would require going up through the nostrils and gum, making another incision by her eye and then the grand finale. He would do a face lift from the inside out, moving all of her skin off the bone and taking the tumors out! This is almost unbelievable, but it has happened. Eight hours later and 200 stitches we have a new look on life - a healthy, beautiful new look on life! There is no way to express our sincere and complete appreciation for what this doctor(s) accomplished! A miracle has taken place, and we have seen it with our own eyes. I would have to write a book if I was going to try to express in writing what Dr. Zender and his colleagues have done to get your MAGIS Award! His constant checking in on us, his constant research, his complete professional manner, and his most amazing quality - he always takes the extra minute to make sure we parents are clear on procedures and OK with everything. This man has a never-ending, extremely demanding schedule. When he is with us he appears to make time stand still. At that moment, we are his only patients. We have met with hundreds of doctors over the last 14 years, there is only one number one, and you should recognize this man and his team who are employed by your hospital. He is not a one star guy; he is your three star general! *** There is no true way to thank him or the rest of my daughter’s team: Dr. Yoo, Dr. Blatt, and of course Dr. James Stankiewicz, Dr. Devyani Lal, who also deserve this award. They treat the human spirit! Thanks for changing our lives.
……the Lunn Family (Mandie, Bob and Jenny)"
I would like to recommend Dr. Jay Perlman as being a true veteran’s advocate!
He attempted to assist me last week regarding one of my Case Management veterans who was scheduled for laser eye surgery. I am most impressed by his professionalism, great efforts amidst the phone calls and emails, and compassion for this Korean veteran who is 100% SC for PTSD.
Sincerely, Francine O’Connor RN MS
Thanks to Dr. Clements
Dr. Bouchard:
I don't believe that we have met - I am one of the in-house attorneys at Loyola. I wanted to let you know that one of your residents, John Clements, went out of his way to help me this morning. On my way to work, one of my contact lenses developed a tear (right in the middle of the lens) - as you know, these tears can really irritate the eye lid - needless to say, I was very uncomfortable. I don't have any spare lenses in my desk - and, I live on the north side of Chicago (so, going back home wasn't an option - not with my back-to-back schedule today). So, I decided to call your department and see if someone could help me get a replacement lens.
Dr. Clements received my call, asked me a few questions to be sure that all I needed was a replacement lens, and immediately helped me. After I had my ophthalmologist fax my prescription to Dr. Clements, he made sure that a replacement lens was at the front desk of your department, waiting for me - this process took fewer than 45 minutes.
As you can imagine, I am extremely busy - especially at the end of the fiscal year. And, the fact that Dr. Clements took the time from his busy schedule to help me meant a lot. Employees like Dr. Clements definitely make this a special place in which to work.

Doctor Tidow,
What would I have done without you? You had a miraculous way of being there when I needed you. Thank you so much and a special thanks to Dr. de Alba for referring us to you.
