The Ophthalmology Service at Loyola offers a wide range of comprehensive and subspecialty eye care. Board-certified ophthalmologists and licensed optometrists provide state-of-the-art diagnostic services and personalized treatment for adults and children in all ophthalmic subspecialties.

Eye Care Services:
Up to date, comprehensive eye care service is offered in the following specialties: Cataract, Contact Lens, Cornea & External Disease, Glaucoma, Inpatient Consultations, Orthoptics, Ophthalmic Pathology, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus, Retina / Diabetic Eye Care, Ultrasonography, Uveitis / Ocular Immunology, Laser Vision Correction (LASIK) & Refractive Surgery, Low Vision / Vision Rehabilitation, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Oculoplastics & Orbital Surgery and Optical Services.

Diagnostic Testing Service (DTS)
This new service will allow referring eye care providers to conveniently schedule a wide variety of diagnostic tests for their patients. These tests will be interpreted by Loyola ophthalmologists, and a detailed report will be generated in a timely manner including images. The following tests will be available: Anterior and Posterior Segment OCT, Fundus Photography, Fluorescein Angiography, B-Scan Ultrasound, A-Scan Ultrasound, IOL Master, Humphrey Visual Field, Corneal Topography, Corneal Pachymetry, and Specular Microscopy.

We have recently launched an exciting clinical eye research program within the framework of the newly established Collaborative Education and Research Center (CERC). The CERC is focused on bringing together the expertise of a broad range of basic scientists to foster and fast track translational research.

Current clinical research programs are categorized within the format of special interest groups (SIGs) comprised of basic scientists and clinicians who collaborate within a particular subspecialty or disease entity. Current SIGs are centered on the following subspecialties/disease entities and/or modalities: Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Cornea, Glaucoma, Eye modeling and imaging, Ocular blood flow, Circadian function and retinal ganglion cells, and Retinal ischemic disease.
