The Division of Dermatology has board-certified dermatologists who have diverse areas of concentration, including aesthetic dermatology, psoriasis, patch testing and skin cancer. Some of the most common diseases treated include:
At the Center for Skin Cancer and Mohs Micrographic Surgery in the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, patients are offered a comprehensive program for the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers. The center focuses on basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, DFSP and melanoma, among others. The Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center offers a multidisciplinary Melanoma Clinic, which targets patients who already have had a biopsy confirming melanoma, and offers cutting-edge treatments and clinical trials. The Psoriasis Center, opened in July of 2003 in the new state-of-the art Loyola Outpatient Center aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with psoriasis through clinical care, research and education. Patients with psoriasis are evaluated and treated using traditional topical therapies, phototherapy, systemic treatments and new biologic therapies. Treatment for psoriatic arthritis also is available.
