General Cardiology Fellowship
-
Overview
The basic program is three years and is designed to provide the training and experience needed for a successful career in cardiology. Two years are designed to educate a physician in the broad aspects of clinical cardiology including invasive and non-invasive techniques. One year will be dedicated to a more in-depth pursuit in a more specific field of cardiology, for example, cardiac catheterization, echocardiography. Training in PTCA or electrophysiology requires additional fellowship training.
- Clinical Training, Experience and Support
Trainees rotate through a variety of patient care settings under the direct supervision of full-time Attending physicians. Rotations include the coronary care unit, consultation service, heart failure/cardiac transplantations, post-operative cardiology, nuclear cardiology, nuclear cardiology services, cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology; graphic laboratory and echocardiography.
- Research Training, Experience and Support
All trainees are expected to complete a research project either in the clinical facilities or in one of the research laboratories and may elect to spend one year purely in research. The year of research can be taken during any one of the three years, or divided within the three years.

Trainees can attend the annual ACC Meetings. Throughout the year, there are conferences held each day – EKG, Echo Case, Journal Club, State of the Heart, Cardiac Cath.
