Fellowships
Electrophysiology Cardiology Fellowship
- Overview
The program is for one year and is designed to provide the training and experience needed for a career in Electrophysiology. Three years of fellowship training in general Cardiology is a prerequisite for the program.
- Clinical Training, Experience and Support
Trainees rotate through a variety of patient care settings under the direct supervision of full-time attending physicians. Rotations include:
- the Electrophysiology laboratory,
- the special device implant procedure laboratory,
- the device follow-up clinic,
- the Electrophysiology consultation service covering the inpatient services in the coronary care unit, heart transplant unit, cardiovascular surgical intensive care unit, medical intensive care unit and medical telemetry units, and
- the outpatient arrhythmia clinic.
- Research Training, Experience and Support
All trainees are expected to complete a research project, either in the clinical facilities or in one of the research laboratories.
- Educational Programs/Conference Seminars
Trainees are encouraged to attend at least one national meeting each year (NASPE, ACC, or AHA). Throughout the years, there are conferences that the trainee is expected to attend: Electrophysiology, Journal Club, State of the Heart (Cardiology Grand Rounds), Cardiac Cath Lab conferences, etc.
- Application Process
Applicants for the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program will receive an application and list of materials that need to be included with the application via mail or e-mail. After the application and all materials needed are received (including the three letters of recommendation), the Program Director will review the application. If an applicant is to be considered for our program, the applicant will receive a phone call to set up a date for an interview.
