Application Requirements

To be accepted for graduate study students must have completed the baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college. Only complete application files will be evaluated. All applications are made on-line through ApplyYourself.com; there is no application fee. Application deadlines are May 15 for Ph.D. degrees, and June 15 for M.S. degrees. Application deadlines can be found on the Program section of our web site. Early applications are strongly encouraged.

The criteria used to evaluate an applicant for successful entry into a program include an acceptable GPA of at least a B or a 3.0 grade point average on a 4 point scale, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and a score from the general test of the Graduate Record Examination taken within the past four years. In certain instances a program will consider accepting the MCAT exam score in lieu of the GRE. All application materials must be in original, official form. In addition, a program may wish to conduct either a phone interview, on-site interview, or both.

International applicants must have all transcripts evaluated and must provide the Graduate School Administration office with the evaluation. All international applicants must submit a score from the TOEFL exam. In addition, students who receive undergraduate education from a college or university where English is not the language of instruction must take the English as a Second Language exam offered by Loyola University. Students receiving less than a passing score on the exam are required to take ESL courses given by Loyola University.
