Chicago: Your Kind of Town

Chicago the cultural heart of the Midwest, has six major universities and more than 60 other institutions of higher learning. Here you can enjoy the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Ravinia Summer Festival, and the Lyric Opera, as well as the free summer concerts and the annual Blues and Jazz Fests in Grant Park on the shores of Lake Michigan. Nearby expressways provide convenient access to concerts at the Tweeter Center,  Sears Centre, the Allstate Arena, and Alpine Valley.

You can visit our famed Museum of Science and Industry, the Art Institute, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium, the Lincoln Park Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, the Morton Arboretum, and dozens of smaller museums and galleries. In addition to the downtown theatres, dinner and community theatres can be found throughout the area. Major-league baseball, football, basketball and hockey have been joined by a new NASCAR track and the Chicago Speedway to provide the sports-minded with many opportunities for excitement.

The Lake Michigan shoreline that distinguishes our city provides more than twenty-four miles of beaches that are open to the public. Along with our free Grant Park concerts, we have the summer nightly light-and water-display of majestic Buckingham Fountain and fireworks at Navy Pier each week. Whether it is a 10-K run, a triathlon, or games on the numerous ball and soccer fields, Chicago's lakefront is alive with something for everyone. The highlight of the summer is the Taste of Chicago, something not to be missed!

The 600 parks, 131 forest preserve areas, 147 golf courses, and 15 athletic parks and racetracks offer year-round recreational opportunities.

Dining on American, ethnic, or exotic cuisines are a delight at the many excellent restaurants found throughout the city. Chicago's Magnificent Mile, Michigan Avenue, offers window-shoppers and serious buyers access to the nation's finest stores. From the top of the Hancock Center or Sear Tower on a clear day, you have a view of three surrounding states.

In Chicago, you have easy access to the many suburban attractions . . . from the Six Flags Great America amusement park, the performing Lipizzaner horses at Tempel Farms, the Morton Arboretum . . . to the outstanding Brookfield Zoo located only minutes from Loyola University Medical Center.

Chicago is "your kind of town."
