Aaron Michelfelder, M.D. Vice Chair, Associate Professor Director of Undergraduate Education Department of Family Medicine Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine

Dr. Michelfelder grew up in Colorado, but moved to the Midwest to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  After undergraduate school, Dr. Michelfelder attended the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine where he graduated at the top of his class.   During his Family Medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, he was honored with the Mead Johnson Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians as one of the top 20 Family Medicine residents in the country.  After serving as the Chief Resident of his program, he joined us here at Loyola University Chicago.  He has recently completed training in Medical Acupuncture through UCLA/Helms Institute and has a strong interest in traditional combined with alternative medicine.  Additionally, his interest include being a traditional family doctor by providing general medical care to people of all ages, sports medicine, providing prenatal care and delivering babies, preventive care, office-based procedures, obesity management and child care.  He also greatly enjoys teaching medical students and resident physicians through the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine.

Dr. Michelfelder's special interests include bioethics as related to national and international health policies, especially concerning care of the underserved, as well as end-of-life care, alternative medicine, and humane medical education. He has been on the Loyola University Medical Center Ethics Committee and an ethics consultant since 2000.
