Developing Guidelines for Using Scene Investigation
Information to Determine Cause of Death in Sudden
Unexpected Death in Infancy

PI:  Fern R. Hauck, M.D.
Funding:  SIDS Foundation of Washington
Duration:  7/1/98-6/30/99

This project was conducted to initiate a process to develop guidelines for using information from death in infancy. It is often difficult to know how to interpret and use many of the data items collected during a thorough scene investigation and review of the immediate and past history. Questions and issues that frequently arise will first be enumerated, and next, literature searches was done for each question to determine what current evidence exists to support establishing a particular guideline.
