Meeting objectives: Upon
completion of this activity, participants will be able to identify barriers
in personal and professional practice that impact the care of patients who
are in the dying process; discuss past, current, and future standards in
palliative and hospice care; reflect on case examples related to the care of
patients who are in the dying process; and identify key resource providers
who can assist physicians with palliative and hospice care for their
patients in need of such services.
This activity
has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and
Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
through the joint sponsorship of The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)
College of Medicine and Loyola University, Chicago. The University of
