This conference, co-sponsored by
The
Catholic Health Association of the United States,
the
Illinois Catholic Health
Association, and the
Neiswanger
Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy, Loyola University Chicago Stritch
School of Medicine
brought together a diverse body of scholars
including moral theologians and health care ethicists to discuss the social,
anthropological, and methodological foundations of Catholic health care
ethics, applied conceptual resources to current problems, and confronted
moral challenges on the horizon for Catholic health care providers.
The conference consisted of two components:
-
Plenary
sessions that explored pressing issues of wide-ranging issues in Catholic
health care ethics, and;
-
small group sessions in which participants
discussed creative strategies to address contemporary, clinical challenges in
health care.
This program was intended for executive leaders, mission
leaders, pastoral care staff, members of ethics committees, clinicians,
sponsors, and others in the Catholic health ministry.
