The Division of Infectious Disease offers consultation for complicated infectious disease problems.

Services include consultation for the following:

  • Fever of unknown origin
  • Nosocomial infection
  • Infection in the immunocompromised host
  • Community acquired infection
  • HIV/AIDS

Special Interests

  • Management of endocarditis in collaboration with the Division of Cardiology and the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
  • Clinical protocols for prophylaxis and treatment of infections associated with organ transplantation
  • Clinical studies on new strategies and therapies for pneumonia, soft tissue, bone and intraabdominal infections

  • Identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of anaerobic microorganisms
