Policy Manual Part II (3rd and 4th Years)
General Graduation Requirements
A candidate
for the degree of Doctor of Medicine must have attained
the age of twenty-one years and be recognized as one
of good moral character. Students must have attended
not less than sixteen quarters or eight semesters of
instruction, or the equivalent thereof, as a regularly
matriculated student. Candidates must have satisfactorily
passed all courses required for the degree, or their
accepted equivalents. Students are required to take
USMLE 1 and USMLE 2 as a candidate and to have obtained
a passing total score on USMLE 1 reported to the Office
of Registration and Records by January of their senior
year.
Students
must have complied with all the requirements and regulations
of the Medical School and University. All indebtedness
to the University must be discharged. The graduate must
be present at the conferring of the degree unless specifically
excused.
Students
achieving a grade average equivalent to 3.5, 3.7 and
3.9 on a four-point scale will be recommended respectively
for the graduation laudatories of cum laude, magna cum
laude and summa cum laude.
